Open Source Android Apps for Developers: SyncMyPix
Apps Description
SyncMyPix is an open source Android app which gets your Android based phone in sync with your favorite social networking sites. Currently only Facebook is supported.
Here’s a run down of the features currently implemented:
* Sync your phone’s contacts with your Facebook friends’ profile pictures
* ‘Skip existing pictures’ option to prevent overwriting manually set contact pictures
* Option for only syncing contacts with phone numbers
* Option for ‘Smart name matching’
* Sync runs in the background leaving you free to do other tasks by pressing HOME
* View the results of the last sync operation
* Manual conflict resolution in the “Results” screen where a long press on a friend allows the picture to be manually added to a contact

Introduction
These are basic instructions for how to use the application.
How to start synchronizing pictures
* Verify sync settings by pressing the “Settings” button on the main screen
* Press the “Sync” button on the main screen
* If asked, provide the necessary authorization to let the application access your information from the social network
* After successful authorization, the sync will begin
* The sync operation will start by retrieving a list of your friends from the social network
* Once the list has been downloaded, a progress bar will be displayed. The operation may be canceled by clicking the “Cancel” button marked with an “X” within a circle
* You may press the “Home” button marked with a little house within the application to return to the main screen. You may also press your hardware HOME button to perform other tasks
* Once the sync completes, the results screen will be displayed
How to view synchronization results and manually link contacts
* Press the “Results” button on the main screen
* Wait for the new screen to finish loading
* Scroll the list to see the results of the last sync operation
* A gray contact image means it’s loading; yellow means the contact wasn’t found; and blue means a photo was not available, or some other error occurred
* Click a friend to view a zoomed pop-up of their picture
* Long press a friend to view options available for the selected friend. From here, you may unlink, link, or crop
How to send the developer troubleshooting information
* Immediately after the error occurs, from the main screen, press MENU and press “Send Log”
* Enter a description of the problem, and send the e-mail
How to delete SyncMyPix pictures
* From either the main or results screen, press the button marked with a trash can
* Press “Yes” to confirm the deletion of all pictures, or “No” to cancel the operation
